The University of Fredericton (UFred) is proud to announce that it has committed to the United Nations Higher Education Sustainability Initiative (HESI). This strategic move is a meaningful step towards promoting sustainability and responsible leadership at UFred and in the broader educational sector. As a signatory to HESI, UFred has taken a pledge to commit to pursuing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“At UFred, we’re committed to ensuring that sustainability is strategically integrated into our operations and our academics,” said Don Roy, President of UFred, “we look forward to assessing how we can further our efforts towards sustainability by contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.”
Both UFred and IU International University of Applied Sciences share a dedication to shaping a better, more sustainable future. HESI encourages universities to undertake actions such as teaching sustainable development concepts, encouraging research on sustainable development issues, greening campuses, and supporting sustainability efforts in the community.
UFred is excited to embark on this journey to instill sustainable principles in its online programs and to nurture leaders who are equipped to face tomorrow's global challenges.
