LIBF accredits new scholarship programme to support financing of greener homes

LIBF, part of Walbrook Institute London, has accredited a new specialist qualification developed through a partnership between Lloyds Banking Group and the Green Finance Institute (GFI), aimed at strengthening skills in sustainable home finance.

The initiative is being supported by a first‑of‑its‑kind scholarship programme for mortgage brokers, funded by Lloyds Banking Group and the Green Finance Institute. The scholarship will enable successful applicants to study for the GFI Certificate in Financing Greener Homes, a qualification that has now been formally reviewed and accredited by LIBF.

As energy efficiency and retrofit considerations become increasingly important in the UK housing market, mortgage advisers are expected to play a growing role in helping homeowners understand and finance greener home improvements.

The accredited programme is designed to address this skills gap by equipping advisers with specialist, practical knowledge on topics such as:

- financing energy‑efficiency upgrades,

- understanding green home finance options, and

- supporting customers as sustainable housing moves into the mainstream.

As part of Walbrook Institute London and the wider IU Group, LIBF continues to support education that responds to real‑world challenges — particularly where finance can act as a catalyst for positive environmental and societal change.
